WE owe you one' is Lee Peacock's stark warning to Peterborough United as he bids to avoid adding to his miserable memories of London Road.

The 30-year-old is hoping to add to the goal he netted in Saturday's win over Macclesfield and to continue his improving lines of communication with Christian Roberts.

Peacock, pictured, said: "Peterborough is a hard place to go.

"I've been there in the past and not got a lot of joy.

"But hopefully they won't have clicked (under Darren Ferguson).

"Peterborough will either be on fire or they'll be a bit iffy.

"Hopefully we can catch them a bit iffy.

"If we can put in the same performance, work rate and togetherness as Saturday we're on to a winner.

"They beat us here, another team we owe one to.

"We were pretty poor. Hopefully we can step it up and get a result there.

"Me and Robbo (Christian Roberts) were talking all day on Saturday and there was a good flow about us.

"As the gaffer says, there's no way a team in this league should beat us just in a battle.

"We have the ability to go further than other teams.

We're starting to get a bit of self belief, like we had right at the start of the season."

It remains to be seen whether Peacock will be utilised in attacking role or a deeper position this evening.

Colleague Michael Timlin will be happy to see the player in either position but has hailed the forward's recent contribution in attack.

The Fulham man said: "He's doing really well. He's scoring goals up front and doing well up front so why would you change it?"

To change or not to change is the manager's decision of course.

Sturrock is grooming Peacock for a more permanent role in midfield and ultimately in defence and Timlin can see why.

He said: "He's definitely got the attributes to be playing in midfield.

"Lee's great in the air, he can pass the ball about and he's got a good engine."

  • Peacock is one of five players in the running to lift the League Two PFA fans player of the month award.

Goalkeeper Phil Smith was the last recipient of the award and is on the short list to effectively repeat the feat.
