GARVEY Kelly will head out to Copenhagen next week for his second professional outing.

The Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained welterweight will be fighting on the under-card of Cecilia Braekhus WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF female world welterweight title defence against Jennifer Retzke on Saturday, November 29.

The 26-year-old Swindonian made his debut at the Oasis Leisure Centre earlier this month with a classy shut-out performance against veteran Matt Seawright over six rounds and he will be stepped up in class for his Danish outing.

“This is the kind of experience that we gave Duke (Luke Watkins) and now we are doing the same for Garv,” Fitzpatrick said. “It is good for a fighter to go away from home out your comfort area and box on a big show.

“We are looking at two opponents for Garv at the moment – both of them have winning records.

“One had 12 wins and seven losses, while the other has won 10 and lost just three, it all depends on who we can secure.”

Kelly was set to spar for his final sparring session today with former British lightweight champion Derry Mathews, while Irish middleweight star Eamonn O’Kane, a 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, has also been involved in the training camp.

Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick said that his Swindon cruiserweight Watkins is unlikely to fight until the new year.
