MICHAEL Smith has returned to full training today and, having overcome his most recent shoulder injury, is looking good to feature in this Saturday’s game against Fleetwood.

Smith has been kept out of full contact training so far this week as the club look to help him get over the bone bruising he suffered in a collision with Raphael Branco.

The 12-goal striker is now on the mend and, with two days to get himself steeled for the weekend, should have ample time to make a near-full recovery.

That is certainly what his boss Mark Cooper is hoping. When asked this morning for an update on Smith, he said: “(Michael Smith’s shoulder is) better. Over the last few days he’s had a bit of a rest in terms of contact. He’ll train today and should be ready go.”

Today is also the last day of the emergency loan window, with a number of clubs having already made moves to strengthen their squads.

Jack Barthram and George Barker are two players Town would like to loan out to give them more first team opportunities though, as of yet, Cooper has not be contacted in regard to them.

Asked if there had been any interest in the pair, Cooper replied: “Not at the moment, not that I’m aware of.”

That was not to say that situation could change over the course of the day, with there even being the possibility to bring someone in.

The County Ground chief added: “There’s always a possibility in or out but at this moment I am aware of nothing.”
