SWINDON Supermarine boss Dave Webb is not going to let previous results affect his planning for tomorrow’s trip to Bashley.

While the Webb’s Wood Stadium outfit were getting beat 5-2 at Merthyr Town last weekend, Marine’s hosts were on the wrong end of an 11-0 thrashing at North Leigh.

That defeat prompted the New Forest club to appoint Basingstoke Town Reserves boss Dominic Cuncliffe as their new manager and Webb feels that his team could have to stand up to a reaction.

“When a club brings in a new manager, you just don’t know what sort of reaction they will get,” Webb said.

“Obviously, they suffered a heavy defeat to North Leigh and then changed their manager. You don’t know if he has managed to bring in any new faces.

“But we can’t worry about what they are doing or what has happened - we have to focus on ourselves.

“We have to go there confident of trying to get the win. We are not going to look at previous results.”

With Marine also looking to put a heavy defeat behind them, Webb is hopeful of having 14 fit players available for selection for this Southern League Division One South and West clash.

“We have got Josh Morse and Luke Hopper back this weekend,” said the Marine boss, who is hopeful of bringing in a new face ahead of tomorrow’s trip.

“But we have now lost Mark Flanagan again after he picked up a knee injury at Merthyr.

“I’m desperately trying to bring in another defender because at the moment I’ve only got Cameron Pirie and Ross Adams fit.

“Sam Morris has done a fantastic job filling in at right-back but I know he would prefer to be further up the field.

“We have got this link with Scott Bartlett at Forest Green (Rovers) and we are trying to bring in a left-back.”

Meanwhile, Webb said that he was pleased with how former Leeds United head coach Dave Hockaday fitted in at training on Tuesday night.

The ex-Swindon Town right-back joined the club on a consultancy basis last week.

“It was a good session,” Webb said. “It is good to have someone with Dave’s experience around.

“He brings so much quality and it was a very bright session for us.

“We worked a lot on keeping clean sheets and that is the main aim for this weekend.”

In the Premier Division, Chippenham Town skipper Alan Griffin will look to continue his return to the team following knee surgery when the Bluebirds head for Burnham.

Cirencester Town will be looking to make it five wins in a row when they entertain Biggleswade Town.
