SWINDON Town captain Nathan Thompson has caught the eye of Championship club Bolton Wanderers, the Adver understands.
Although no formal offer has been made for the 24-year-old defender, it is understood that there have been a number of clubs interested in the Town skipper, including Neil Lennon’s Trotters.
However Town chairman Lee Power and boss Mark Cooper have both said that it would take a ‘silly’ offer for any of their star players to leave during the January transfer window as Town push for a first return to the second tier of English football since the turn of the century.
The club’s asking price for Thompson could prove to be a hurdle for the Championship club, although there have been reports that Bolton winger Lee Chung-yong could be heading to Crystal Palace for a fee of £1.5million which could free up cash for a move.
Thompson, who only signed a new contract last October is currently in Tenerife with the rest of the team and is believed to be happy to help Swindon in their push for promotion.
