SWINDON Spitfires under 16s came away from their trip to Bath City with a 3-1 win to return to the top of the table.

It took 15 minutes before Spits could take the lead, which came from a clinical passage of play. Poppy Cottrill whipped in a cross from the right and Dani Granato laid off for Charley Reynolds to strike firmly past the keeper from the edge of the box.

A late first-half rally from Bath saw them equalise when they broke down the right wing and an excellent cross was volleyed into the bottom corner.

Spitfires dusted themselves down and made it 2-1 with a carbon copy of the opening goal. Another cross from Cottrill was this time laid off by Abby Fuller and Reynolds hit the back of the net from outside the area.

Despite plenty of further action their were no more goals until 10 minutes from time when Cottrill tucked home to make it 3-1 to Spitfires.

Swindon Spitfires under 15s tasted success in their first match since November, beating Didcot 2-1.

Spitfires started the stronger and were rewarded on five minutes when Helena Butcher fired home.

Spitfires then sat back and allowed Didcot to get back into the game, resulting in Didcot levelling with five minutes of the half remaining.

The second half was evenly matched and some outstanding saves by Danielle Jones in the Spitfires goal kept the score at 1-1.

Spitfires continued to press hard and were eventually rewarded when Butcher scored the winner with her second of the game.

Spitfires under 14s made the most of their long trip to Frome in the cup, coming away with a 2-1 win.

Tamzin Davis, Freya Sullivan and Lucy Scrannage did not give the Frome midfield any chances to get a foothold in the central midfield battle, with Emily Povey and Iona Kamugisha working hard to keep the wingers quiet, meaning Frome were forced to play long balls into the box.

The away side finished the first half on top but could not make a breakthrough despite a few decent attempts.

Frome took the lead early in the second half but this setback seemed to spur the Spitfires on.

After a period of Spits pressure Sophie Hynd picked up the ball and was able to coolly pick her spot under pressure to level the scores at 1-1.

The game went to extra time and just as it looked like it would come down to penalties a throw from Scrannage resulted in a scramble that came to Charlie Tinson to smash it in.

Highworth Town under 9s made the journey to Westbury where they went down 9-0 despite producing some positive moves.
