A LOAN move for Swindon Town striker Miles Storey to League Two side Newport County could be wrapped up prior to this weekend.

The Adver understands that Storey will join County on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move and the deal could be completed as early as tomorrow.

Yesterday the Adver reported that County and Stevenage were leading the chase for the 21 year old, who saw a temporary switch to Scottish Premier League side St Mirren fail to materialise last weekend, despite spending two days training in Scotland.

County now appear to be at the front of the queue for the frontman, with the Welsh club's boss Justin Edinburgh revealing today that they were in "advanced" talks to draft in a League One striker on loan before their game with Shrewsbury this weekend.

League Two Northampton were on the brink of signing Storey on a short-term deal last week only for the move to break down after the two clubs were unable to come to a financial agreement.

However, Swindon remain keen for Storey to get more first-team game time and another loan switch is thought to be close to being sealed.
