LAWRENCE Bennett has warned Jamie Hearn that he is more afraid of the Wealdstone Raider than the mandatory challenger for his Southern Area cruiserweight title.

Bennett and Hearn are set to collide at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, March 13.

However, challenger Hearn has garnered support from internet sensation Gordon Hill, AKA the Wealdstone Raider.

As well as backing the former MMA star, the Raider, in a video by boxevolution.tv, also laid down the gauntlet to the Swindon champ.

The Raider, who shot to fame in the autumn following a YouTube video from 2013 which went viral and released a song in December called ‘Got No Fans’ which reached number five in UK charts, told Bennett: “Lawrence Bennett, you got no fans. Lawrence Bennett, do you want some.”

The 32-year-old self-styled ‘Bad Boy’, speaking at last night’s Swindon Advertiser Sports Awards, was quick to respond saying: “I’m more worried about the Wealdstone Raider than Jamie Hearn.

“He (the Raider) has had a lot to say but I’m happy, it is a bit of fun and a joke and I think the guy is quite funny apart from - if he wants it he can have it as well.”

Bennett won the Southern Area crown last March when he out-pointed Margate’s Jack Morris.

The fight with Hearn, who has boxed former light-heavyweight star Chad Dawson, will be his first defence of that crown.

Bennett has been made to accept the fight on another promoter’s show after they won the purse bids.

“I wasn’t made to take any fight, the fact remains, he offered the fight before when I didn’t have a mandatory and he offered me peanuts,” Bennett said.

“I thought I went to London, won the southern area title and I needed a little bit of respect and he was offering me four-round money.

“If you are going to take my title to London then he needs to compensate me, or bring a title to the table.

“He hasn’t got a title so he needs to bring money to it before I even get up for training, for me to be doing runs in the morning and getting punched in the face.

“If he didn’t pay then we wouldn’t have this fight. At the end of the day he has had to pay because he wanted a shot at the title and he is going to have to pay me and I’m taking my title home as well.”
