MASSIMO Luongo was back with a bang at the County Ground as his double helped Swindon stop the rot with a 2-1 win over Bradford City.

Two strikes in the first half for the Australian on his return from injury was enough to give Swindon all three points as the home side dominated the first half but a second half strike from Billy Clarke made for a tense end to the game.

Mark Cooper made three changes to the side that lost to Crawley on Saturday with Louis Thompson and Raphael Branco coming into the side.

Stephens moved into midfield with Yaser Kasim, Harry Toffolo and Jon Swift all victims of the 2-1 defeat.

Swindon dominated possession from the kick off as they passed the ball about with precision and had Bradford chasing shadows.

It was the hosts who had the first golden opportunity after 12 minutes when Michael Smith did well to win the ball back on the left before playing in Gladwin whose whipped cross to the back post found Andy Williams unmarked but his header was well over.

It did not take long though until the deadlock was broken. It was Gladwin again who was heavily involved as his cross field pass was inch perfect to find Stephens who played the ball on to Luongo to fire low past Jordan Pickford from the edge of the box.

Gladwin had a chance to double the lead himself moments later when Nathan Byrne, who was causing James Meredith problems down the right all night, squared to the midfielder in space but Gladwin opted to side foot his strike rather than put his laces through the ball and the attempt was blocked behind for a defender.

Swindon showed no sign of letting up and it was Williams again who went close after 25 minutes.

Stephens, who was allowed to wander forward too easily all first half, played a perfect ball inbetween the back two of Bradford and with the defender hesitating Williams was able to pounce but his shot could only find the crossbar.

Swindon did turn their domination into a second goal after 34 minutes. Stephens surged forward again with confidence and found Williams with his back to goal.

The forward was able to lay the ball off perfectly into the stride of Luongo charging into the box to hit home first time.

Phil Parkinson’s team talk at half time had the desired effect as Bradford came out in the second half pressing higher up and enjoyed the majority of possession and it soon paid off.

Nine minutes in and Luongo's tackle in midfield saw the ball fall to John Stead whose cross looked like it is going to be easily dealt with by Nathan Thompson.

However the defender got his clearance all wrong and the ball fell straight to the feet of Clarke who fired home from inside the six yard box past Foderingham.

Bradford continued to push in the second half and new loan signing Oliver Burke twice tested Foderingham in the Swindon goal but to no avail.

The visitors had a shout for a penalty midway through the half when the ball appeared to strike the arm of Gladwin on the edge of the box but the referee turned away any appeals.

Swindon began to regain their rhythm as the half continued with Byrne twice going close for the hosts but Swindon were unable to extend their lead and as they sat deeper and deeper in the second half Swindon were able to hold on for a much needed three points.
