SWINDON Town chairman Lee Power has been left delighted by the uptake on season tickets for next season.

Fans have until Saturday to take advantage of the price freeze and, with the prospect of Championship football at the County Ground next year, Power has said that sales are up on where they were the same time last year.

Swindon announced the ticket offer earlier this month and it appeared to coincide with a dip in form on the pitch with Town losing three on the bounce, leaving Power worried.

However, there was no need to fear as fans have been ‘flocking’ to secure their seats for next season to leave the Swindon chairman pleased.

“We’re well up on last year so we couldn’t be more pleased with how they are going,” said Power to BBC Wiltshire.

“I sat there and put my head in my hands and nearly cried when we decided to have our poor run just as we go on sale, but the fans have been great and they have been flocking to buy them.

“If it continues we will be well up on what we had for this season.”

The deal means adult fans in the side stands and Town End will pay £375 or £345 respectively for their season ticket next season, if they renew before February 28 (phase one).

The price for concessions, young adults (now categorised at 17 to 19) and under 17s remains the same as well at £295, £265 and £125 respectively for season tickets. The price is the same in the side stands or the Town End.

Under 11s, with a £30 Junior Red membership, will go free regardless of when they sign up.

Swindon returned to winning ways on Tuesday night with a 2-1 victory over Bradford City, but Power will not be planning for next season until he knows what league Swindon will be plying their trade in.

“You have only got so much money and so much income, so it depends on what league you are in,” added Power, who has several players, including Andy Williams and Wes Foderingham, out of contract come the end of this campaign.

“You have obviously got your eye on this and your eye on that, you have to, but you can’t actually properly plan until then.”
