MARK Cooper has admitted that he won’t be afraid to tinker with his side again ahead of tomorrow’s game at Crewe Alexandra.

The Town boss made three changes to the side ahead of Tuesday night’s win over Bradford, with Louis Thompson, Massimo Luongo and Raphael Branco coming in at the expense of Harry Toffolo, Yaser Kasim and John Swift.

The move paid off with Luongo getting a brace and Branco dealing well with the aerial threat offered by John Stead for the Bantams.

However, with Crewe posing a different threat to Bradford Cooper has said that he may have another re-jig with players on the bench desperate to prove their worth.

“We know it is a squad game and I have mentioned a hundred times before that the boys are in the first throws of their career and it is not fair for them to play 40 games straight off in one season so there are going to be times these players get a chance,” he said.

“You’ve got Jon Obika and Jermaine Hylton as well that are going to get a chance before the end of the season and it is up to them to take that chance.

“I’ve got the magnets on the board so we keep shifting them about and moving them into different positions but that is part of it.

“I think the boys that are not playing, as tough as it is to be out of the team, they probably understand and when they see the boys play like they did the other night they probably understand it’s maybe difficult for them to get back in.”

Branco, who splits opinion among Town fans, had a solid game marshalling Stead on Tuesday night, with the in-form striker barely getting a sniff of Wes Foderingham’s goal.

However, that has not guaranteed him a starting spot at Gresty Road this weekend with the pace of Nicky Ajose to deal with.

“He did ok Rafa the other night,” added Cooper. “I knew I couldn’t risk him not playing on Tuesday because of the aerial threat that they pose.

“I thought it was justified because he headed a lot of balls out of our box on Tuesday night.

“It might be a different type of challenge against Crewe so that is something we’ll have to look at.”
