SWINDON Supermarine’s free-scoring form continued on Saturday when they hit bottom side Bashley for six at the Webb’s Wood Stadium.

Luke Hopper led the charge with a hat-trick, Connor Waldon and Chris Taylor also found the net, while Marine’s lot was completed by an own goal.

The rout took Marine’s haul to 15 goals in their last three games, following equally impressive wins at home to Clevedon Town and on the road at Sholing.

Marine boss Dave Webb heaped praise on his team’s attacking talent and is now keen to extend the stay of Waldon, who is currently on loan at the club from Swindon Town.

“The front three all contributed well and Luke scored a proper hat-trick, with a right foot, left foot and a header, and Connor got himself another goal as well,” said Webb.

“We’ve shown we can score goals again and it was great to see the front two both get on the scoresheet.

“We’ve got a few games in March so hopefully they can get a few more throughout the rest of the month now.

“Hopefully we can extend Connor’s loan as he has done really well for us since coming in. He loves playing here and he’s got himself really fit.

“It’s been really good for us and for him, and ultimately really good for Swindon Town too.”

Town hit the ground running against Bashley and Waldon fired them ahead after just 13 minutes.

Taylor was next on the scoresheet and Hopper helped himself to a couple to put the hosts four goals to the good at the break.

Hopper completed his hat-trick ten minutes after the restart before an own goal from Bashley’s Lee Taylor put the icing on the cake for Marine.

The third straight win puts Marine up to 15th in the table and Webb has now set his sights on climbing even higher before the season is out.

“I’m very pleased. We’ve slipped up against teams below us before so it was very good to get a convincing win,” added Webb.

“We changed the shape of the team a bit so to have the players respond as well as they did was very, very good.

“We’ve now won three games on the spin and there is a lot of confidence flowing through the team. It’s very encouraging at the moment.

“We said to the players we wanted to win these last three games and they’ve gone out and done that and I’m really pleased for them.

“And credit to them as well as they are not just seeing the season out.

“If we keep playing like we are at the moment, I’m sure we can pick up a few more wins and get ourselves towards the top ten before the end of the season.”
