PROUD Highworth chairman Rohan Haines is more than happy for his side to continue to carry the underdog tag through the remainder of their historic FA Vase run.

Following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Yorkshire outfit Tadcaster Albion, Haines’ Hellenic League side face a crunch quarter-final replay trip to the team topping the Northern Counties East League Premier Division – but after coming through a host of Vase challenges to reach the semi-final draw, next weekend’s showdown should be no fear for Highworth.

In the national rounds, the Worthians have already triumphed at 2013 runners-up Tunbridge Wells and Western League county rivals Bradford Town, and the Elms chairman doesn’t see any reason why his team can’t pull off another memorable win on the road.

“We have been the underdogs for every round so far this year and I think we have a chance up at Tadcaster,” said Haines.

“We went to Tunbridge Wells in the last round. They thought they had done their job here when they drew but we ended up going to them and winning.

“I’m quite happy to be labelled underdogs all the time because our players and management respond to it.

“You get the emotions of going 1-0 up and then the low at one each but I think a draw was a fair result (on Saturday).”
