JOHN Swift made a substitute appearance and scored a penalty in England Under 20s clash with Mexico at Barnet's Hive Stadium tonight - as his three Town teammates had to be content with places on the bench.

Swift, on loan at Swindon Town from Premier League leaders Chelsea, came on in the 69th minute with England trailing to Jose Ramirez's strike shortly before Chuba Akpom levelled from the penalty spot for the hosts.

The 19 year old then took the first spot kick in the subsequent penalty shootout and scored as England won it 4-2.

Town teammates Jack Stephens, Jordan Turnbull and Harry Toffolo were also part of the England squad but were not called from the bench to play.

All four Town men will stay with England for Sunday's match against the USA at Plymouth's Home Park.
