A HOST of local players took part in the PlanetBowls North Wilts Second Open Singles tournament last weekend.
Mike Titcombe Jnr, Neil Smith and Dave Snell fared the best, with all three reaching the last 16.
Titcombe went down in a tie-break to eventual runner-up Jean Collier (North Wilts) 7-2, 5-6, 1-2, while Smith also lost in a tie-break to semi-finalist Shaun Jones (Malvern Hills) 3-6, 8-7, 0-2.
Snell was beaten by the leader of this season’s PlanetBowls rankings, Egham’s Steve Tuohy, 7-2, 5-3.
No players from Swindon or North Wilts (Chippenham) are crossing the Severn Bridge this weekend to participate in the Radnorshire Open Singles, a new PlanetBowls tournament in Wales being staged at Radnorshire IBC in Llandrindod Wells.
