MARK Collier is enjoying watching the strike partnership of Charlie Griffin and Ashan Holgate blossom as the two hitmen fired Chippenham Town to a 3-0 success at Chesham United on Saturday.

Griffin slammed home his third brace in four matches for the Bluebirds since his return to Hardenhuish Park against the Generals, while the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division win was sealed with Holgate's injury time goal at The Meadow.

Since Griffin's return to Hardenhuish Park at start of the month from Conference North side Gloucester City, the strike duo have bagged eight goals in four matches for the loan striker grabbing six of them.

And while knowing that this partnership is it's infancy, Collier is excited about the future.

"This is becoming a good little partnership," Collier said. "They look after each other, they are two big men who hold the ball up well.

"They may not be the type of strikers who can run in behind defences but they can protect the ball to allow others to do that."

After a goalless first half in Buckinghamshire, Griffin fired the Bluebirds into the lead within four minutes of the restart.

Two minutes later the striker pounced for his sixth goal since his return to double Collier's side's advantage.

Chippenham continued to dominate proceedings at Chesham with the gloss added in the first minute of injury-time by Holgate.

"It was a good performance," the manager said. "We had to play against the elements in the first half and I knew that it we would be in a good position to get in at half-time level.

"We did have a couple of good chances in the first half, both Charlie and James Guthrie went close.

"Once the second goal went in it killed the game off and then we were comfortable for the rest of the match."
