MINETY 2nds, having already suffered an away defeat in the league and a home defeat in the 2nd XV Bowl against Calne 2nds, were delighted to gain an emphatic 37-5 victory over them at home in Dorset & Wilts Division 3 North.
There was no stopping Minety as they ran in try after try against their hapless opponents.
Playing down the slope in the first half, flyhalf Andy Edwards got the home side started with a penalty goal which was then followed in rapid succession by tries from James Stuart, Dave Hicks, Andy Hibbard and finally one from Edwards himself.
Edwards was on target with three out of four conversions to make the half-time score 29-nil to Minety Calne started the second half brightly, steaming down the hill for a try of their own, but it was to be their only reward of the afternoon.
Minety let nothing else through their defence and, despite having to attack uphill, added a push-over try by the forwards which was touched down by blindside flanker Stuart, who was subsequently awarded his side's man of the match.
Edwards kicked the conversion and ended the game by slotting another penalty goal, bringing his personal tally up to 19 points.
After the game, skipper Hibbard said: "It was a great come-back by Minety after two defeats against Calne. The whole team played well and we look forward to continuing in this style."
On Saturday, Minety head for Swindon to take on Swindon College 2nds.
