SWINDON Wildcats D-man Callum Buglass is hoping to be back at the Link Centre next season after enjoying his first taste of English Premier League hockey.

The 18-year-old proved to be a pivotal member of the Swindon squad after signing on a dual contract from Cardiff Devils last summer and his impressive performances earned him a call-up to the Great Britain Under 20s squad.

After a disappointing end to the season in Peterborough, Buglass has already set his sights firmly on next season and would relish the chance to pull on a Wildcats jersey again.

When asked if would be open to a return to Swindon for the next campaign, he replied: “I hope so.

“I have loved every minute of it, more than I expected, it has been great.

“Making the step up from ENL last year was a tough task but I have enjoyed every minute of it.

“It is so professional, the guys are great and they have helped me a lot in developing myself as a player.

“I am looking forward to next season now and I will be training hard over the summer on and off the ice and see if I can get any video of myself from the season to look at my own game and see where I can improve.

“I think the Cardiff team is a bit more of a long term goal. It is the top league in Britain and they have so many good players now and with the import limit going up it is going to be tough to break in there.”

Buglass has thanked outgoing head coach Ryan Aldridge for the faith he showed in him this season and is looking forward to having countryman Stevie Lyle as the coach next term.

“I am gutted, we wanted him (Aldridge) to keep going obviously because he is such a good guy and a great coach,” he added.

“Stevie knows a lot of guys throughout his career so that could help in a big way."
