HIGHWORTH Town put the disappointment of their FA Vase semi-final defeat behind them with a 3-0 win at home to Thame United in the Premier Division tonight.

John Fisher’s side suffered an agonising weekend as they were beaten 2-0 away at Northern League side North Shields in the second leg of their last-four clash, losing 3-0 on aggregate.

However, the Worthians showed they will not let that hamper their bid to finish the league season strongly as they got back to winning ways at the Elms.

Captain and top scorer TJ Bohane lashed home from the penalty spot to give them the lead at half-time against Thame.

Things then got even better for the Worthians after the break as Callum Parsons and Liam Edmondson both struck to increase the lead.

A goal in each half helped Wootton Bassett Town ease to a 2-0 win over visiting Ardley United.

Steve Robertson broke the deadlock midway through the first period before Dan Bailey made the points safe for Paul Braithwaite’s men in the closing stages.

Craig Martin’s strike 15 minutes from time saw an inspired Fairford Town suffer a frustrating 2-1 defeat at home to Division One West league leaders Longlevens.

The visitors broke the deadlock inside nine minutes but Fairford rallied brilliantly and Lewis Petrie levelled things up at the break.

However, Longlevens proved why they are sitting pretty at the top and found a way to snatch the points in the second half through Martin’s effort.

Purton’s difficult end the season continued as they suffered a fourth defeat on the bounce, losing 1-0 away at Wantage Town Reserves.
