LEWIS Rose is sure that he is now reading from the right lines as he gets himself back on track for the new season.

The track at the Abbey Stadium has provided a few issues for the new Swindon Robins rider since he joined during the Elite Riders Draft last November.

Rose is getting ready for only his third season in speedway and has admitted he has used the knowledge of the more experienced riders like Troy Batchelor and Nick Morris to discover the nooks and crannies of the Abbey Stadium track.

“It’s a new challenge being at the new track,” the former King’s Lynn rider told the Advertiser.

“I’ve only been here a couple of times before and I’m looking forward to the season. It’s a new bunch of guys to work with and it’s exciting.

“I think everyone who has a home track will know the advantages.

“At King’s Lynn, we knew it was grippy and when people turned up, they didn’t like it, so there was already a bit of power there I suppose.

“This track is a bit tricky. Hopefully, once we’ve had a few meetings and I’ve had a bit of time on it, I can figure out where everyone rides.

“I had a good meeting here last year and I enjoyed it.

“It’s such a big track and there are a few different lines on the corners, where people rip it up, where they don’t and maybe a few holes.

“We had a practice here the other day and I was riding the wrong line. Nick (Morris) and everyone came over and said this is where you need to ride. I tried it, and it made life so much easier to get around.

“Every time I ride and learn a bit of something new. I’m still a fresh pup in the sport I suppose.”

The last campaign was curtailed for Rose when he suffered knee ligament damage in a crash whilst riding for Premier League outfit Newcastle Diamonds at the Glasgow Tigers in August, something that the 25-year-old would rather forget.

Rose, who is no stranger to injuries from his days as a motocross rider, has given himself the all clear and is looking forward to lining up with his Robins teammates.

“I got injured at Glasgow where my wheel collapsed, but we’ll try and forget about that one. I’m fighting fit now,” he added.

“It was the left knee but it’s all good now and ready to go.

“You have them, come back and get over them.”
