IT’S always nice to come back into the season with a good winter under your belt.

The off-season lasts about four months or five months, so I always try to get away.

Some people work, some have families to look after, and in my case I have a bit of family in Australia so I go out there and switch my phone off and enjoy the sun while I can.

Coming from a busy, hectic season, you have to learn how to chill out because your body clock is not normal. You don’t live a 9 to 5 life, you are in and out all the time and your body clock just goes off.

While I am out there I’ll just try to keep fresh and ride where I can. It will be about once a week with some local boys. Sometimes I’ll even do a bit of motocross or try a few different sports just to enjoy something else.

After eight months of speedway it’s a bit drilled into you because you don’t do anything else. Over there it’s just nice to do something different.

I’ll be out there for about two months and come back at the end of January, then I’ve got February and March to get ready before it all kicks off again.

When you get back there’s lots of preparation to do so I always try to get my bikes done and ready for the next year before I go.

Once I’m back I’ll start meeting with my mechanics and start playing around with the bikes again and sort out sponsors and covers, all the things like that.

I’ll keep fit and healthy over the winter and try to go to the gym every day.

I’ll focus on running, cycling and long-distance fitness things. Obviously I don’t want to be a super machine and look like a robot, I just want to be fit and healthy.

I’ve put in a lot of money, time and effort over the winter, so hopefully it’s going to be a good season.

Rosco has got us all fired up and we’re ready to get going.
