THE PATCHED-UP Swindon Robins slumped to a second successive away defeat as they suffered a 13-point loss at the King’s Lynn Stars this evening.

The imperious form of reserve Lewis Kerr was the driving force behind the hosts’ efforts, with the 25-year-old Norfolk local racking up four heat victories and a second-place to help put Alun Rossiter’s men to the sword.

The home side got off to the smoother start and gained early impetus when Kenneth Bjerre and Rory Schlein combined to bring home a maximum in heat three, leaving guest Dakota North and stand-in Robins skipper Morris trailing in their wake.

After Grzegorz Zengota slipped off his bike and was disqualified in the fourth, Nicklas Porsing and Lewis Kerr eased past lone Swindon rider Charles Wright to rack up a second successive 5-1 for the Stars and it was soon three in a row after King’s Lynn competitors Lewis Kerr and Robert Lambert emphatically won a battle of Britain against Kyle Howarth and Lewis Rose.

The Robins were reeling but an inspirational tactical ride from the returning North breathed life into the visitors’ challenge as his scorching display in heat six helped Swindon clinch a 7-2 win.

But the revival was only short-lived, with Nick Morris’upsetting the home crowd to take a heat win in the seventh, but Kerr and Lambert soon combined again in emphatic fashion, romping to a 5-1 for the second time in the meeting against Wright and a wobbly Zengota.

The visitors continued to struggle as their hosts went for the jugular and King’s Lynn pressed the issue home with a crushing maximum in heat 13, with guests North and Chris Harris barely given a sniff as Niels-Kristian Iversen and Bjerre raced home in style.

But there was late consolation for the wounded Robins as Morris put in an assured display in the penultimate race of the night, with Zengota making up for his difficult evening by battling past Schlein to help Swindon grab their first maximum of the night.

Star man Morris then ensured he had the last hurrah with victory as he held of Iversen again in the 15th but his team had already been condemned to defeat.
