ALUN Rossiter immediately set his sights on victory against the King’s Lynn Stars at Blunsdon tomorrow night after the patched-up Swindon Robins were bested in Norfolk.

The Robins, who were forced to field guests Chris Harris and Dakota North in place of injured duo Adrian Miedzinski and Troy Batchelor, were beaten 50-43 at the Adrian Flux Arena on Wednesday but have the chance for instant revenge at the Abbey Stadium tomorrow (tapes up 7.30pm) when the two teams lock horns again.

Former Swindon captain Hans Andersen will step in to the breach for the Robins tonight, with Harris also riding in red and white again whilst Kyle Newman comes in for unavailable Charles Wright, but despite another depleted line-up, team boss Rossiter is targeting nothing less than maximum points.

“We must win at home. We lost one but we’ve won one and let’s see if we can get four points. I’m confident that on our own circuit, we’ll perform better,” said the Swindon chief.

“It’s always difficult when you’ve got guest riders and they’re not your riders.

“On the positive side, I saw lots of improvement from our riders (at King’s Lynn) but we just desperately need our own riders back.

“Hopefully, next week we’ll have (Peter) Kildemand back, which will give everyone a little spring in their step and hopefully we’ll have Troy back for the 30th (at home to Wolverhampton Wolves) too.”

Stand-in skipper Nick Morris was the stand-out man for the visitors, beating home ace Niels Kristian-Iversen twice on his own track, but his efforts were in vain as the imperious form of reserve Lewis Kerr inspired the Stars, with the 25-year-old Norfolk local racking up four heat victories and a second-place to help put the Robins to the sword.

Rossiter added: “I think Lewis Kerr won them the match – he was just trapping and he was gone, and I think we need to brush up on our gating a little bit.

“(Nick Morris) is just gaining in confidence. He’s got new engines this year and that’s just making him gain in confidence. He feels confident in what he’s doing.

“It’s just so hard coming away with a depleted side and not your own riders. Troy (Batchelor) is double figures around there. It’s all ifs and buts and we’ve got to live with what we’ve got.”

Three maximums in a row put King’s Lynn in control and despite guest North producing a scorching tactical ride to clinch double points for the Robins in heat six, the onslaught continued.

Kerr was in sparkling form once again as the Stars racked up another 5-1 in heat nine, whilst Iversen and Kenneth Bjerre were the antagonists in the 13th.

But there was some late consolation in the penultimate heat of the night as Gzregorz Zengota recovered from a difficult evening to battle past home captain Rory Schlein and post up a last-gasp maximum behind star man Morris.
