SWINDON Robins reserve rider Charles Wright has said that he is finding his rhythm after a solid performance against Wolverhampton Wolves last week.

The 26-year-old will be taking to the Abbey Stadium track for only the third time this season when the Robins play host to Belle Vue on Thursday night.

Wright had a disappointing start to his season as he finished the first meeting with Poole Pirates with only two points after two third place finishes and two lasts, but showed what he can do against Wolves, scoring 7+2, including a win in his first race.

Despite the lack of track time Wright believes he is getting to grips with the ‘technical’ Swindon track and will be looking for another improvement in his points tally against a side who sit just one place above Swindon in the Elite League table on points difference.

“It was good to have a ride. I have only had one meeting here so far so it was good to get back on the bike,” said Wright.

“I am still struggling a bit with the set up but I did quite well. Myself and Lewis (Rose) did our job and we won and that is the main thing.

“It is quite a technical track and there are so many different lines.

“In the last heat I probably should have stayed close to the curb and not gone as wide and come around the inside but you learn don’t you.

“It was more to do with my engine in the first meeting against Poole, I was lacking power so I changed a few things and it seemed to work.

“Next Thursday should be good I am just getting dialled in and used to the track so I will get there in the end and get a few wins under my belt.”

Despite an injury hit start to the season Wright says that has not affected the morale of the side and with the return of skipper Troy Batchelor last week, and Peter Kildemand set to race on Thursday night Swindon should be naming a full strength side against Belle Vue for the first time since the opening day.

“It is a great atmosphere. I know most of the lads here from Somerset and Batch is a good help and (Jason) Doyle was a good help,” he added.

“Obviously he was just a guest tonight and it is a pity we can’t have him full time.

“The fans are great they cheer us on and I couldn’t be happier.”
