TOWN midfielder Massimo Luongo may pull out of Australia's squad for next month's World Cup qualifier against Kyrgyzstan after sustaining an ankle injury in Sunday's play-off final defeat to Preston.
Luongo, whose County Ground future is at the centre of much speculation with Premier League Aston Villa and QPR thought to be interested, was due to have a scan today, according to reports in Australia.
The Asian Cup winner sustained the knock in the 4-0 defeat against Preston and could pull out of the 23-man Socceroos squad which will meet in Dubai on June 9 ahead of the qualifier in Bishlek on June 17.
Town chairman Lee Power revealed earlier this week that Luongo's playing future could be sorted out soon, with Villa thought to have tabled a bid of £3.5 million for himself and teammate Ben Gladwin.
