SAM Bullas has become the latest player to commit himself to another season with the Swindon Wildcats after agreeing a new deal for the 2015-16 season.

Two days after it was revealed that D-man Callum Buglass has also extended his stay at the Link Centre, today’s announcement marks the confirmation that former Nottingham Panther star Bullas will remain with the Cats for a seventh straight season.

Having begun his career with the Nottingham franchise, 24-year-old Bullas was originally snapped up by Cats in the 2009-10 season and has gone on to make 295 appearances in a white and red jersey since his Wiltshire arrival.

Last term, the former Great Britain U20 international made 48 appearances for Swindon, scoring six goals and making nine assists for 15 points. He also received 48 penalty minutes.

Bullas says he cannot wait to link back up with the Cats and new head coach Stevie Lyle, and was also quick to praise the influence of outgoing Swindon boss Ryan Aldridge.

“I’m very happy to be back for my seventh season. For me this club is a second home,” said Bullas.

“I would like to take this time to thank Ryan for all his coaching and support over the last six years, and wish him all the best with his new OHA venture.

“It’s a new chapter for the Wildcats, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to learn and develop under Stevie now.

“The wisdom and experience Stevie brings to the club is going to make for a very exciting year and made signing my new deal, an easy decision.”

Bullas is the latest in a list of Cats players to recommit themselves to the club for Lyle’s new regime.

Captain Jan Kostal, fellow import Tomasz Malasinksi, Aaron Nell, Stevie Whitfield and Adam Harding have also penned new deals at the Link Centre.

Lyle, who will continue to play between the sticks for the Cats, is pleased to add Bullas as the next piece in his jigsaw.

“I’m delighted to have Sam back on board for the new season,” coach Stevie Lyle said after the contract was agreed.

“Since arriving at the club, I’ve had a good chance to watch Sam, and he is someone who is very much part of our team.

“I look at Sam as a guy who can make big plays and break things open.

“He pushes the pace and I expect him to continue to contribute. He’s fairly physical when needed and he’s a strong player who can really open things up with his skating.”
