PAUL Sturrock wants to rein in Lee Peacock's roaming habits just a touch but the manager is now utterly convinced that he has more than a wannabe' midfielder on his hands.

Good news for player and manager although no doubt a tad frustrating for loan man Michael Timlin, as Sturrock acknowledges.

The 30-year-old buzzed throughout Town's crucial 2-1 victory over Torquay United on Monday and it was the match that finally persuaded the manager to scribble out centre forward' on the player's CV.

That means that Sturrock will not be including Peacock among his striking options when it comes to putting his squad together for next season.

The Scotsman will instead be battling with the likes of Michael Pook, Paul Evans and Curtis Weston, should some or all be offered new deals at the County Ground.

Peacock's enthusiasm for the role is obvious although that does pose the odd problem for the manager.

He said: "The problem being everywhere' (on the pitch) means he takes us out of shape at times.

"He doesn't know whether to stay up, to come back, to play deep, when to pick up but he's very athletic and gets away with a lot of things.

"His passing is good and he's had a couple of attempts at goal on Monday.

"Lee Peacock is now a midfield player. He doesn't want to be a centre forward any longer.

"He's outstayed his day there and it'll be my job now to bring a range of centre forwards here that means he would very rarely play there again."

Peacock's success has rather left Fulham man Timlin on the fringes of the action. Sturrock has some sympathy, although at such a crucial stage of the campaign, the collective good comes first.

He said: "I feel a wee bit sorry for the boy Timlin. I think he's done nothing wrong and it was suspension that took him out of the team (following a red card at Grimsby last month) but we've had three wins and two draws in the last five games."

n Supporters should note that the under 7s go free scheme will not be in operation for the final game of the season against Walsall.
