DAVID Howell has made the cut at the Omega European Masters after finishing an up-and-down day two-under-par in Switzerland.

The Swindon ace recorded five birdies and three bogeys on his card today, having posted a level par 70 on the opening day, and will remain at Crans Montana over the weekend, with the cut mark finishing at one-over.

Broome Manor pro Howell kicked off his day at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in exceptional fashion, with birdies at the third and ninth holes seeing him go out in 33.

However, the wheels threatened to come off Howell’s round shortly after the turn as those two shots were relinquished with bogeys at holes 10 and 12.

The 40-year-old soon got back to form, parring the next before firing back to back birdies and although another shot went at 16, Howell soon clawed it back with a birdie at 17 before recording a par on the last to shoot a two-under 68 on the day and leave him two-under overall.

That leaves him 11 shots off the pace set by clubhouse leader Danny Willett on 13-under.
