JAMIE Cox took just over two minutes to beat Blas Miguel Martinez to claim the vacant WBO European super-middleweight crown.

The Swindon southpaw maintained his unbeaten record as he stopped the Swiss-born Spaniard at in two minutes and 14 seconds at Wembley Arena.

In only his second appearance since returning from a 20 month absence the 28-year-old took to the body from the first bell and, despite being told to keep his shots above the belt by the referee, secured the win with a blow to the liver.

Martinez, who weighed in eight and a quarter pounds over limit, was never in the contest, as he had to take a knee for what was deemed a low blow early in the first, before his corner threw in the towel.

The win has also helped Cox to gain a world ranking inside the top 15 as the Commonwealth gold medallist targets a world title shot.
