JORDAN Turnbull returned to Swindon Town colours for this afternoon's pre-season friendly against Premier League giants Liverpool, with the terms of his season-long loan from Southampton apparently concluded.
Trowbridge-born defender Turnbull, voted as the Swindon Advertiser's Town Player of the Season last term, went straight into the starting line-up for the clash against Brendan Rodgers' Reds, who numbered high-profile summer signings Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino among their own starting line-up for the sell-out clash.
Although Town had yet to officially confirm the loan deal, it is understood that Town beat of competition from Championship sides to land Turnbull for another spell, a major coup for Mark Cooper's squad ahead of the start of the season against Bradford next Saturday.
Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, himself rumoured to be close to securing a loan switch to the County Ground, started for Swindon against his parent club, who also included first teamers Kolo Toure, Emre Can, Lucas and Joe Allen in their side, while another rumoured Town loan target, Ryan Kent, was on the bench.
Town starting line-up: Trialist (Vigouroux), Thompson, Williams, Turnbull, Ormonde-Ottewill, Traore, Kasim, Stewart, Byrne, Obika, Hylton.
Subs: Belford, Balmy, Dayton, Whittingham, Brophy, Eckersley, Randall, Marshall, Cooke, Rodgers, Barry.
Liverpool: Bogdan, Alexander-Arnold, Moreno, Toure, Sakho, Lucas, Markovic, Can, Benteke, Allen, Firmino.
Subs: Fulton, Cleary, Ojo, Chirivella, Maguire, Kent.
