SWINDON Town are set to play lower league opposition when they kick-off their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy campaign.
The groups have been announced this morning, with Swindon in the South West group alongside League Two outfits AFC Wimbledon, Portsmouth, Yeovil Town, Barnet, Exeter City and Newport County.
Swindon, who made it to the final of the competition before losing out to Chesterfield in 2012, could also face the team who knocked them out of the competition last season, Plymouth Argyle.
Meanwhile, local rivals Oxford United and Bristol Rovers have both been granted byes along with Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers.
The draw for the first round will take place on Saturday, August 8, on Soccer AM at approximately 10.15am.
