FAIRFORD Town manager Gareth Davies is hoping the arrival of Sam Mepham will help kick-start their campaign.

The holding midfielder arrives at Cinder Lane after spending the early part of the summer at Royal Wootton Bassett Town.

And after playing several games for Fairford's reserves, the former Shrivenham and Pewsey Vale player comes into the squad for tomorrow’s Division One West visit of Clanfield.

“What Sam will bring to the side is a player that will put his foot on the ball and use his experience - something which we have been lacking," said Davies.

“I have watched him in all the reserve games that he has played and he is a decent acquisition.”

Purton will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season when they make the trip to Carterton.

Justin Miller’s men have won two and draw one in their opening three games of the campaign and will be looking to build on last Saturday’s 1-0 derby success at New College.

The students, meanwhile, will be aiming to put that loss behind them when they host Letcombe.

In the Premier Division, Wootton Bassett will be looking to put a difficult week behind them when they make the journey to Ascot United.

After a 7-2 humbling at Flackwell Heath, Paul Braithwaite's side lost 3-2 at Lydney Town on Wednesday night.

Goals from Steve Robertson and Steve Yeardley put them 2-1 up against the Severnsiders after Jarred Liddington had given the hosts the lead but Declan Morley-Lyne then struck twice to grab the win for Lydney.
