WITH a number of Championship clubs circling Nathan Byrne ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, only a seven-figure bid will be enough to see the wide man depart Swindon Town.

Brighton are the latest club to show an interest in Byrne with boss Chris Hughton hoping to add two more attacking players to his squad before the window shuts.

However sources on the South Coast have told the Advertiser it is likely their interest is part of a wider search, with the Town player not top of the pecking order.

Huddersfield, who had a six-figure bid rejected earlier this week, retain an interest, as do Queens Park Rangers and Burnley, with the 23 year old set to be watched again during today’s League One clash with Sheffield United (3pm).

Although Byrne only has a year left on his contract, having rejected the offer of a new one earlier this summer, the Advertiser understands he would only be allowed to leave for a figure topping £1 million.

Tottenham Hotspur would see a portion of any fee for the 23-year-old because of a sell-on clause in the original deal when he signed on back in April 2013.
