SWINDON Town Ladies went seven-up to claim a comfortable FA Premier League Division One South West derby success at Swindon Spitfires.
The two teams were set to meet in the FA Premier League Cup on Sunday before that game was postponed.
Town made the perfect start to this derby clash at The Elms as they found themselves in front with only 30 seconds on the clock when Beth Westlake found the target The visitors doubled their lead shortly after when Ellie Maynard netted with a simple tap-in.
After Spitfires pulled a goal back from the penalty spot through Hayley Huckin, Westlake bagged her second of the night to give Town a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period.
In the second-half Abby Picton broke clear for Swindon and slotted the ball home to stretch their lead, before they had a goal disallowed.
However, Town added their fifth soon after when Alex Hurst broke and she squared the ball to Sarah Uzzell to tap home.
A few minutes later, Uzzell bagged her second and Town’s sixth when a break from Maynard played her in to score from close range.
But the visitors weren’t finished as Meg Vella went on a lovely to make it 7-1 in the dying moments of the game.
