JORDAN Stewart’s short-lived Swindon Town career looks set to have come to an end before it has begun in earnest.

The 20-year-old forward, who joined Town from Northern Irish semi-professional outfit Glentoran in August, for a reported fee of over £50,000, had been suffering from homesickness since his move to the County Ground.

In the wake of Saturday afternoon’s 1-0 defeat at Blackpool, Town chief Mark Cooper confirmed that the club are now looking to sell Stewart, who has returned to his homeland after failing to settle in Wiltshire.

The Swindon manager confirmed that terminating the player’s contract wasn’t an option.

“It won’t (be cancelled) because obviously paid money for him. We hold his registration and wait for somebody to buy him,” said Cooper.

“(It’s) frustrating but if his head’s not right, there’s not a lot we can do about it.

“He’s homesick and he came back for a couple of days and now he’s gone back again so I think that will be the end of it now.”

The Northern Ireland U21 international failed to make his Town debut and was an unused substitute in games against Barnsley and Burton last month.
