GIVEN Town will be without five midfielders for tonight's visit to Oxford United, new signing Momar Bangoura could be thrust straight into the action.

Former Marseille man Bangoura signed on at the County Ground last Friday and was an unused substitute in the weekend defeat to Blackpool.

Fabien Robert has joined the list of Town casualties, with boss Mark Cooper confirming the Frenchman could be out for up to a month.

Louis Thompson, Yaser Kasim, Kevin Stewart and Jordan Williams are also all unavailable, meaning Bangoura could make his debut at the Kassam.

Offering his evaluation of the Senegalese born 21-year-old, Cooper indicated a willingness to try out Bangoura if the situation called for it.

“He’s a defensive midfield player,” Cooper told the local press.

“He’s been with us for a couple of weeks. He’s one that the chairman (Lee Power) has sent in, we’ve had a look at him and he’s done okay.

“So he’s another body for us to use.

“He’s on a short-term deal and we’ll see how he progresses.

“It looks as though he’s got a bit of ability, so we’ll have a look at him over the next few weeks.”
