WOODLANDS Edge sit top of the tree as they maintained their 100 per cent record in Division Three with a 5-1 win at Moovahome.

A brace from Steve Nesbitt gave Craig Spreadborough’s side the edge as he added to strikes from James Munday, Adam Leighfield and Aaron Williams.

The side formerly known as Old Town United started brightly against Moovahome, who themselves now sit bottom of the league, with Edge striking out into a four-goal advantage by half-time.

The hosts were able to get a late consolation from the penalty spot, but Spreadborough is now eyeing a top -hree finish after their fine start to the season.

“Our start to the season has been absolutely fantastic,” said Nesbitt.

“You can only beat what is in front of you and I am very pleased with all the lads putting the effort in.

“They beat us last season so it was important to get the early goals.

“It is the second season with the same core of lads. One or two have come in but the main thing is getting the team spirit together and making sure everyone knows that they are there for the team and not for themselves.

“My personal preference would be to finish in the top three, anything below that I wouldn’t be too happy with.”

Elsewhere in the division, DPR kept the pressure on the league leaders with a 5-0 win over Rudis to keep their 100 per cent record form their opening three games.

AFC Wedge came out on top of a 13-goal thriller to get their first win of the season with a 9-4 win over Eldene.

Stratton Saints remain third with a 5-2 win over Smart Movers, while DH Fitness completed a 3-1 win over Chiseldon Sunday.

In Division One, last year’s champions Greyhound stayed top with a straight-forward 6-0 win over SKS Blyskawica, while FC Walcot kept their perfect record with a 6-1 win over Deers Leap and AFC Gas triumphed 7-1 at home to KC Globe.

West Swindon Wanderers made the most of Shrivenham Sunday not playing to move top of Division Two with a 4-2 win over AFC Moonrakers.

Meanwhile, FC Swindon completed a 6-2 victory over Rodbourne Real and The Windmill were 4-1 winners at home to Wanborough.

Defending was not in the game plan in Division Four as Cricklade beat bottom-of-the-league 9-5, while league leaders Willowgreen Hotspur beat Nationwide 5-3.

Eight was the magic number in Division Five as AFC Cricklade and Atheltico Marlborough both put that number past Purton Red House and FC Abbey Meads Development respectively without reply.
