SWINDON Wildcats player-coach Aaron Nell is as determined to be on the best line in the league, as he is for the team to be successful.

Since the return of Jonas Hoog to the side, Swindon’s first line, along with Nell and Tomasz Malasinski, have slowly started to find their rhythm.

While Nell admits he has not been at his best since having to juggle both playing and coaching, the side he believes that his line has the potential to challenge anybody in the league.

“We were good last year and Tomasz compliments myself and Hoogy really well,” he said.

“We should be one of the best lines in the league. When we click we are and we are only going to get better.

“When we have got some of the players that we have got then it takes some of the pressure off me.

“I know I haven’t been to the level I want to be in a couple of games since I have started coaching and I want to get better.

“My important thing is to work hard during the week to get the team ready and then on Saturday once the puck drops I need to be me.

“I haven’t had the best start to the season but if I can get better and get back to my normal self then we are going to be more successful and that is part of my job.”

Swindon face Manchester Phoenix at the Link Centre this evening before travelling to Bracknell Bees tomorrow and another line that is exciting Nell at the moment is the Cats’ third string.

“They might be out most important line,” he added.

“We know what we are getting from Jan (Kostal), Carlo (Finuccci), Tomasz and Hoog but that line, if they can play like they have for the last six weeks, minus the game against Hull, then we will be successful.

“They are three very good players and they are three very different players and they complement each other really well.

“I have given them a bit more rope and a bit more responsibility and they have taken that.

“Corey is perfect for that line and he has got an awful lot of responsibility.

“It might have been easier for him playing on a higher line because he would have two imports to play with but he has taken the extra responsibility.

“The days of having two good lines and a third line are gone. To be successful we have to have three good lines and we have that now.

“If they don’t perform then we have Toms (Rutkis), (Michael) Stratford and (Owen) Griffiths snapping at their heels.”
