INJURIES and loan limits continue to trouble Town boss Martin Ling.

His selection quandary for the trip to Fleetwood was eased by the absence of Drissa Traore, allowing Yaser Kasim to resume his spot in midfield at the Ivorian’s expense.

However the make-up of his team going forward, with six loanees and only five available slots, appears to be a question Ling has not completely figured out the answer to.

Having revealed his embarrassment at watching his side’s display at Highbury, Ling admitted what is increasingly obvious. If he could play all of his loan players he would.

Louis Thompson, the player to miss out at Highbury, travelled with the team and watched from the bench with his brother and captain Nathan.

Ling now has to decide whether to bring the midfielder back in for the Walsall game on Tuesday and who to leave out.

“The six into five loan conundrum continues. It will have to be sorted out,” Ling told the local media.

“Louis (Thompson) hasn’t made it today. If I’m honest with you, he’d be a starter if I could play all six of my loan signings. I’ll have to have a think about it and see where we go.

“There’s no doubt about it (Louis Thompson) would be in the side. The fact that he’s one of the loan signings we’ll have to see how we spin it differently.”

The injury situation is improving for Town. Traore could return to the side on Tuesday and Liverpool loanee Kevin Stewart is not long off a comeback either.

However that does not help Ling with headache selecting loanees.

“Kevin (Stewart) is about three weeks away,” the Town boss added.

“Ben’s loan is up before that and Louis’ is not much longer after that so we’ll judge (reintroducing Stewart) how we go.

“Drissa Traore could be available for Tuesday.

“Nathan (Thompson) is going to be Christmas time.

“Jordan (Williams) has had a setback on his injury and he’s not going to be considered for quite a while yet.”
