SWINDON Supermarine manager Dave Webb is looking to get his side on a pre-Christmas roll as he prepares to travel to Shortwood United this evening.

The Webb’s Wood outfit have drawn their last two games and face a run of seven games before the year is out.

As it stands, all of those teams are below Supermarine in the Southern League Division One South & West table and Webb has targeted the run as a chance to put his side firmly in the play-off places.

“It’s a busy December, seven games weather permitting, and we look forward to getting back in the pack,” he said.

“Saturday’s result extended an unbeaten run and we need to go on our own little run of games unbeaten.

“We go to Shortwood and that will be difficult and then we have got Wimborne at home. Hopefully, if we can get six points in those two games, it will put us right back in there.

“It goes right down to mid-table. There are only six points between sixth and 12th. It is very tight and it is a very competitive league and if you can stay unbeaten and keep picking up points then you will be right up there.

“I think it brings a lot to the players as well. The confidence you get and you turn up every week thinking you won’t get beat - that is big.”

Supermarine, who sit sixth in the table, will look to start that run when they travel to seventh-placed Shortwood this evening, who head into the game on the back of a 4-1 win at Wimborne Town.

“It is an important game,” added Webb. “They will be confident. It is never easy, they are a very well-organised, competitive team. It will be difficult but one we must go and look to win now after Saturday’s draw.”

Tonight's game is subject to a 3.30pm pitch inspection.
