SWINDON Town are closing in on a double swoop for Leyton Orient midfielder Craig Easton and Plymouth Argyle defender Hasney Aljofree, writes ANDY CRYER.

Easton, played at Dundee United under Paul Sturrock, while versatile defender Aljofree has been signed by Town boss Paul Sturrock three times before.

A source from Plymouth Argyle has confirmed Town are one of a few clubs chasing Aljofree's signature while sources inside Leyton Orient reveal Easton is close to securing a move to Wiltshire.

Easton, 28, a hard-working midfielder, has turned down a new contract at Martin Ling's Leyton Orient and is currently in talks with Town officials.

Sturrock has declined to comment on all transfer speculation but hinted last week his transfer targets are mostly players he has managed in the past.

Acting chief executive at the County Ground Martyn Starnes is currently working his way through Sturrock's list of targets and is believed to be trying to finalise deals to bring both to Wiltshire.

Aljofree, pictured right, has 12 months left on his contract at Plymouth but ended last season on loan at League One Oldham and is expected to be allowed to leave on a free.

Sturrock signed the left back/centre back for Dundee United from Bolton in 2000 before taking him to Home Park in August 2002.

During the 2004-05 season, Sturrock again swooped for the 6ft defender, signing him on loan for Sheffield Wednesday.

The Swindon Advertiser understands three or four clubs are chasing Aljofree but his past history with Sturrock make Wiltshire his favoured location.
