BULLISH Swindon Robins chief Alun Rossiter reckons his side sent out another message to those quick to doubt them as they racked up their third win in a row last night.

Fresh from dispatching Coventry Bees 50-42 on the road on Monday, Rossiter’s Robins were on the rise once again as they beat Lakeside Hammers – the early-season pace-setters – 50-40 at the Abbey Stadium.

Swindon skipper Jason Doyle was untouchable throughout as he racked up a perfect run of five victories from five heats whilst those around him also spread their wings, with the Robins coming close to winning by an even bigger margin, but for Stefan Nielsen’s technical failure in the 12th race of the night.

Team manager Rossiter has been dismayed by the naysayers talking down his riders’ chances of mixing it in the Elite League this season and thinks that those sceptics should throw their presumptions to one side and start giving the 2016 Robins the respect they deserve.

“It’s about giving them time,” said the Swindon boss.

“I said this team would be up and down at the start of the season “They’re youngsters. They’re learning and they’ve not had a lot of track-time.

“But now the boys are riding at Somerset, Jason’s riding on the continent, Nick (Morris) is riding on the continent – the only one that hasn’t really had a lot of meetings is Justin (Sedgmen) and he’s doing fantastic.

“All he’s done are the Swindon meetings, so full credit to Justin.

“It could have been by even more points if Stefan hadn’t blown his bike up in that last race, so people have got to start taking us a little bit more seriously, really.

“I don’t get people that say ‘on paper, on paper’ – it’s got nothing to do with what it looks like on paper.

“I know what team I put together. I know this team are a bunch of racers.

“I thought Josh (Grajczonek) was outstanding tonight. Nick, he came strong – he changed bikes after his first two rides and once he did that, he was great.

“I think they’re going to get better, without a shadow of a doubt.”
