ROHAN Tungate said that he had to nurse his shoulder through the thrilling draw at King’s Lynn Stars.

The Robins rider, who is back in the main body of the team after a spell at reserves, damaged his shoulder during last week’s victory over the Stars.

However, the Aussie strapped himself up for Thursday night’s return meet to contribute a valuable five points, after failing to register in his opening two heats, in the 45-45 dramatic draw.

However, prior to the meet the 26-year-old was not sure whether he would have been able to compete because on theinjury.

“(You are) definitely (more wary about the injury), King’s Lynn is one of the grippier tracks so I was a bit hesitant at first with the shoulder,” Tungate said. “It held ok, but it needs a little more rest and then we go again.

“I didn’t really know what to expect with the shoulder, it was all strapped up and I wasn’t 100 per cent sure that I was going to be all right.”

After a difficult start at the Adrian Flux Arena, Tungate registered a second place finish in heat 11 before claiming victory in heat 14.

Although the two points in Norfork returned the Robins to the summit on Thursday, Alun Rossiter’s side went into heat 15 with a four point lead only for the Stars to register a 5-1 maximum to snatch a draw at the death.

While the Abbey boss says that both he and his team were left frustrated, the former Poole man says that they shouldn’t be too hard on themselves.

“It is frustrating for Rosco and us, but at the end of the day we came here to get points and that is what we did,” Tungate said.

“We have to be happy with the points and move forward.

“It was a bit of struggle (for me) at first, but I have had been pretty bad all week with my shoulder injury.

“It took me a bit to get going but once I got going with my shoulder I was able have a good crack and get involved.”

Meanwhile, the Robins will be holding a Family Fun Day when they host Poole Pirates at the Abbey Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.
