SWINDON motorcycle racer Max Cook notched up another solid performance at Fife’s Knockhill circuit at the weekend.

The 13-year-old claimed 12th and 11th places in Sunday’s two race heats on his ReplicastUK Honda, putting him ninth in the Moto3 Motostar British championship with 53 points.

“The circuit was all new to me,” said Cook. “I didn’t feel positive about it and I was happy to qualify 12th.

“I was happy with my start in race one and I made up a couple of places. I managed to stay in a group with (Mike) Brouwers and (Edward) Rendell but struggled with passing as the KTMs are just too quick out of the corners.

“The rain came down before race two but I got to scrub in the tyres beforehand. I slipped down the order though. I struggled for grip, pushing wide on corners, and there were a lot of fallers.

“I just couldn’t get on it and I’ve got a lot of clawing back to do in the championship.”

Cook, who races again at Snetterton, Norfolk on July 8-10, added: “I’m looking forward to it.

"I had a test day there recently and got to try it out in both wet and dry conditions. I’ll get up to speed for the next round.”
