Swindon Robins soared high above Southampton Saints when the two sides met at the Oasis Track last Sunday, racing away to a 102-77 victory.

Both teams were missing key riders, however, the meeting still delivered some memorable highlights.

The second heat saw homegrown rider Jake Neighbour, coming off the back of an international win for England, up against one of Southampton’s strongest racers, Nathan Harris, with the Swindon man going on to secure a heat advantage of 6-4.

The first heat maximum of the day arrived in race four, which saw Swindon’s James Bailey make the most of home track advantage to overtake Southampton’s Nathan Harris on the second lap, while team-mate Daniel Harper sped away for the win.

Swindon led 50-40 at the interval before heat 10 delivered another key moment in the match as Swindon’s Andy Yard claimed victory from gate four.

Yard later went on to gain a heat maximum alongside Steve Harris to push Swindon 73-57 clear.

At heat 16, Matty Rayson returned after an earlier unlucky fall to gain a further heat maximum alongside Steve Harris, which secured the outright win for the Robins. Yard was named man of the match for his performance.

SWINDON Cycle Speedway would like to congratulate Jake Neighbour on representing England at the recent Juniors Home International.

Neighbour demonstrated that his call-up twas well deserved by winning the last heat decider and securing the title for England in the process.
