LUKE Williams has revealed there is a ‘strong possibility’ that Swindon Town will dip their toe back into the transfer market before the window closes on Wednesday night.

Town have made eight signings already over the summer, strengthening in all areas of the pitch but head coach Williams has suggested their business may still not be done.

Crucially, the arrivals of Nathan Delfouneso and Luke Norris have bolstered what had looked a threadbare strikeforce, while Lloyd Jones looks a brilliant loan signing in defence.

Although the impending returns of striker Jonathan Obika and centre-back Raphael Branco from injury will further enhance the current squad, Williams thinks chairman Lee Power may still be out to try to pull off a least one more coup.

“I would say that there is a very strong possibility of more players coming in,” Williams told the local media following Saturday’s abandoned game at home to Bristol Rovers in League One.

“Equally, I would say that with Raphael and Jon coming back into the squad very soon, we would be very capable without bringing anybody in.

“But we are looking and as I have said many times before, we are looking only for the right match to make sure that we have harmony in the squad and that people know their role when they come into the club from day one.

“There is a potential to bring players in.”

Should Town be unable to recruit any more new faces before the transfer window shuts at 11pm on Wednesday, Williams says he is happy with what he has.

“I think there’s a chance that one or two may still come in but that bench is really promising,” added Williams.

“To look round and see the players there ready to come on is fantastic really and it gives us a chance to be able to change the game and it gives us the chance to be resilient if we lose one or two through injury or suspension.”
