STEVE Robertson is looking to get a read on West Ham United Ladies this weekend before his side face them in the league.

Swindon Town Ladies travel to AFC Hornchurch to face the Hammers in the FA Women’s Premier League Plate, having been knocked out of the FA Women’s Premier League Cup by Denham United Ladies.

With West Ham struggling in the FA Women’s Premier League Southern Division, just one place off of the bottom, Robertson is keen to use the game as a scouting mission as well as looking to progress in the cup.

“It is a fixture we’re looking to get something out of,” he said.

“We’re at a point now where we have found what we need to do in this league now.

“We have had our bedding in period and now feel like we can go to West Ham and get something.

“I’m quite glad we are going to play in the cup and not the league because we get to have a look at a side we have ear marked as a team we want to get some points out of this season in the league.

“We can have a look at them in the cup and try and suss them out for the league hopefully.

“We want to be able to learn something from the game and not just get something from it.

“The cup is something we want to progress in and it is a nice distraction.

“I am hoping to get a reaction because the last cup game we played was against a team from below and we dipped in performance.”

Town will be boosted by two summer signings in contention for a place in the starting line-up in the form of Jordan Guard and Sammy Hallsworth, while Robertson is also waiting on international clearance for Amy Wathan.

“We’re looking a bit better than we did last weekend (against Charlton Athletic),” added Robertson.

“We should have at least two of our new signings available on Sunday and the cup game gives us a chance to have a look at them.

“We should be a lot more bolstered, which can only be a good thing.”
