OLDHAM Athletic manager Steve Robinson believes that it won’t be straightforward for his side to capitalise on any perceived Swindon Town crisis of confidence this afternoon.

Luke Williams’ Town will arrive at Boundary Park this afternoon having picked up just one point from their last four outings in League One, still smarting from last Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat to local rivals Bristol Rovers.

Both teams are locked on eight points but the Latics are yet to pick up a home league victory this season – they’ve won one and drawn five of their eight games so far.

Neither side are currently hitting the heights but Robinson is hopeful that Oldham can give their supporters something to shout about today.

“We’ll be positive in the way we play, as we always are, because we do need to turn these draws into wins,” the Latics boss told the Oldham Chronicle.

“I’m not sure about Swindon and whether there is any kind of a confidence crisis there but I do know they set up well and have got some very good individual players.

“We have seen a lot of them and all the players seem comfortable on the ball.

“We’re aware they’re a threat. If they open you up, they are capable of breaking on you, but we are more than confident. We’ve prepared well and we’ll be going for the three points.

“It is about what we do.

“We went to Coventry and showed what we can do, with and without the ball. We’re all quietly confident.”

Full-back Jamie Reckord only had a brief association with Swindon but is raring for a recall to face his former side.

The 24-year-old, who joined Town on a three-month loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2014 but only made five appearances in a red shirt, is back in contention for a call-up to Robinson’s squad after a hip injury and earlier broken nose.

He said: “I’m fitter now and personally, I feel like I’m ready to go back into the side and push for a place (against Swindon).

“It’s going to be tough to get back into the side, though.

“The gaffer can only pick 11 players so it’s hard for him, but I’m going to work my socks off to get back into the side.”
