HEAD coach Luke Williams says he never considered changing Town’s football philosophy after they were able to turn their fortunes around in League One.
Having looked short of confidence and ideas last Tuesday as they slipped to a third league defeat in a row during an agonising late loss at home to Bristol Rovers they were back to their brilliant best on Saturday during a classy 2-0 triumph at Oldham Athletic.
But they stuck to their free-flowing style at Boundary Park and it allowed to them dominate the game from start to finish in their most accomplished performance of the season.
Williams always believed that the ‘Swindon way’ was the best formula for success for his side and was delighted that sticking to their principles paid off so handsomely.
“We must never get away from what we have been working so hard on for a long time now,” Williams told BBC Wiltshire.
“There are new players that have got to get up to speed as quickly as possible and that’s my job, to give them that knowledge.
“I have got to be precise with my information and I have got to help the players get up to speed.
“If we get away from what we are and if we try to play too direct and try to hang on and defend too deep, it doesn’t suit us and we need to be even more Swindon at our best.”
