MALMESBURY Victoria slumped to their second defeat within a week as they lost 4-2 to Wincanton Town at the Flying Monk Ground.

After beginning the match well, Vics took the lead with 10 minutes on the clock when Andy Baker’s long ball over the top picked out Shane Bumphrey, who then chipped the visiting keeper.

However, the hosts let Wincanton back into the game when a poor back pass from Dan Coles left Joe Snell exposed and he ended up conceding a penalty that was duly dispatched to level the scores.

Malmesbury came close to regaining their lead late in the first-half when Jamie Packer hit the post after being played in by Bumphrey.

The visitors took the lead on the hour with a strike from the edge of the area, however, Tim Bond headed Vics level after he rose to connect with Baker’s free-kick.

Wincanton restored their goal advantage before Bumphrey was saw red for stamping after a fracas broke out.

The final goal came with a minute left on the clock.
